A new travel pass for international students in Victoria will give them a 50% discount on Victoria-wide travel myki cards, saving them up to $975.
The International Student Travel Pass is the largest public transport discount program provided to international students across Australia and is a key part of Victoria’s International Education Recovery Plan 2025.
The pass is available to eligible international students who are enrolled at participating education providers in Victoria. It can be used to travel on all public transport in Victoria, including trains, trams, buses and the Melbourne Airport Skybus.
The pass is valid for 90, 180 or 365 days and can be purchased online or at participating train stations and tram stops.
Minister for Trade and Investment Tim Pallas said the International Student Travel Pass was a great way to support international students and encourage them to explore Victoria.
“Victoria is Australia’s top destination for international students because we welcome them with open arms and provide meaningful support like the travel pass,” Mr Pallas said.
“Whether it’s travelling to a lecture or the other side of the state, the pass is a winner for students and businesses.”
Melbourne-based international student Ashmit Badal said he had already used the pass to travel to Geelong with his friends.
“The pass is fantastic,” Mr Badal said. “I travelled to Geelong with my friends a few weeks ago to go to the waterfront – without the pass, it’s something you’d really think twice about cost-wise.”
